Clay Aiken – Memorable duets
Talk today is centering on the duet between Clay Aiken and Linda Eder that will be on Clay’s new Tried and True album. Whomever was fortunate enough to be in Raleigh for the PBS taping in March has already heard these two great voices sing Crying. The rest of you will have to wait for the album to drop on June 1.
Clay has sung other duets over the past 7 years (both live and recorded) with Kelly Clarkson, Kimberly Locke, Suzie McNeil and others. Here are 3 of my favorites.
First on my list was his 2004 Broadway appearance with Heather Headley for her Broadway Cares, Equity Fights Aids benefit concert. They sang Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King.
Next on my list is the Listen duet from Dreamgirls that Clay sang with Quiana Parler during his 2007 summer tour. Angela Fisher usually sang this as a solo. She took ill and Clay and Quiana filled in with an impromptu duet of the song.
Last is the 2008 duet Clay sang with Hannah Waddingham (Spamalot). They sang David Foster’s The Prayer.

Clay is so good with duets. I love how he can meld his voice with whoever his sings with. Can’t wait to hear the new one.
Clay sings duets so well because he doesn’t overpower and wants to blend and tell a story. These 3 are excellent and I understand the Clay Aiken/Linda Eder duet is out of this world.
I love these! Seems like such a long time since we heard them. His voice blends so well with others. I can ‘t wait til “Crying”…..
Soon!
Clay blends beautifully like a fine tuned instrument whoever he sings with!! I simply am over the top excited about his duet with Linda Eder!! crying is going to be a big hit..I can feel it..
Truth,
Thank you for this wonderful rewind of Clay Aiken duets. I am truly looking forward to hearing the “Crying” duet with Linda Eder on the “Tried & True” CD.
Have a great week!
Caro
I love remembering the duets. I think Crying is going to be wonderful. I can’t wait for the CD!!
Thanks for the info. I love reading positive blogs!
Wonderful! I was fortunate to attend the March 12th concert and I have to say my favorite is Clay Aiken & Linda Eder – their voices are just amazing together. I love all of the duets posted here, but I’m partial to Listen – not because of the song itself but because it was impromptu and both Clay & Quiana hit it out of the ballpark!! Second favorite would have to be Clay & Hannah, I loved that with the nun skating around and they could stay in character and sing the heck out of that song!
Thanks for the great blog
I think Clay is a great duet partner. He knows how to harmonize and allows his partner to have her parts without overpowering her. I have heard so much about the duet with Linda Eder, which I am very sad to say I did not have the privilege of hearing live. I cannot wait for the CD so that I can finally hear them sing “Crying” together. I don’t think there are two better voices in music today. I know it must be sublime.
It would be hard for me to choose between Hannah and Clays duet and the one with Heather and Clay. They were both fantastic. Since I haven’t heard “Crying” I am really looking forward to it.
I love how wonderfully Clay Aiken harmonizes with these ladies. Can’t wait to hear crying on his new CD.
Thank you for posting those duets! They are ALL wonderful! It’s been a while since I’ve seen them and I loved every minute of watching them again. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face the whole time they were playing! I can’t wait to hear “Crying!”
